Lessons Learned:
What I learned from this assignment is that as technology advances and improves the quality of care for patients, Nurse Informaticists will be needed more in healthcare. Healthcare professionals will need to continue to be educated on how to utilize the technology available in order to enhance patient outcomes, increase the patient-provider relationship, and improve communication. The only way the patients will benefit from these improvements in technology is if we identify their health literacy and understand their comprehension of the information they receive. By focusing on the needs of the consumer, we can move towards the patient-centered care.
Ashley very good presentation on future issues. You brought up very interesting points. You also supported the fact that we will play an important role in advocating and training consumers in being proactive.

ReplyDeleteNice presentation. I especially appreciated your slide on the role of the nurse informaticist and the role that position plays with the consumer - developing peer and patient competencies as well as being instrumental in revolutionizing the health care system.
